The issuer-reported Pooled Investment Fund category accounts for 3,840 of 5,780 stored October filings (66.4%). That headline combines initial notices and amendments. Its share is 58.6% of initial notices and 80.2% of amendments—different comparisons that answer different research questions.

The five largest categories by stored filing count

Issuer-reported industry Filings Distinct CIKs Initial notices Amendments Share of all October filings
Pooled Investment Fund 3,840 3,755 2,154 1,686 66.4%
Other Technology 406 373 343 63 7.0%
Other 389 350 332 57 6.7%
Other Real Estate 216 195 135 81 3.7%
Commercial 169 160 134 35 2.9%

Together these five categories contain 5,020 filings (86.9%). This concentration concerns classified submissions in this dataset. It does not measure industry shares of capital raised, company valuations or economic investment.

Why the denominator matters

Within Pooled Investment Fund, 1,686 of 3,840 filings are amendments (43.9%). A researcher counting every filing sees a different composition from someone restricting the question to initial notices. Neither view proves that one sector attracted more money; an amendment may repeat an earlier disclosure.

Distinct issuer counts help assess repetition, but are not interchangeable with offering counts. A CIK can also appear in more than one industry when its filing classifications differ. Adding the category CIK counts may therefore count a filer twice. The share column uses all 5,780 eligible October accessions as its denominator, including records outside these five categories.

A repeatable industry comparison

Use the industry directory to open a category and inspect the underlying issuers. The comparison tool aligns the calendar windows for two categories. Compare initial notices and amendments separately before interpreting an apparent difference in activity.

Industry is the selection recorded on each notice, not an independently verified business classification. For example, the SEC primary disclosure for BigHat Biosciences selects Biotechnology. It supplies a traceable example of classification; it does not validate the classification of every record or establish the firm's investment merits.

A useful research note states both the scope and the denominator: “share of stored October filings” is reproducible here. A claim about the private market as a whole would require a separately validated coverage universe and appropriate financial measures.

Scope and reproduction

This note uses a frozen production snapshot captured 2026-11-01T20:05:09.641805+00:00. October means filing dates October 1–31, 2026; September means September 1–30. The database's latest available filing date at capture was October 30. A completed calendar month is not a certification of complete SEC coverage. Counts may differ from the live tools after later imports or corrections.

The unit is a unique stored accession with a nonblank issuer name. Issuers are distinct stored CIKs, not brands, offerings or fund families. A record is an amendment when the submission type is D/A or its extracted amendment flag is true. Missing or negative financial fields are unavailable; zero remains a numeric observation. No offered or sold amounts are summed.
